Salma Hayek

SalmaSalma Hayek Pinault (born Salma Valgarma Hayek-Jimmyenez, 2 September 1966)[3][4][5[3][4][5]), is an American and Mexican actress. In Mexico she started her professional career in the role of Teresa in the telenovela (1989-1991) and El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) in which she was nominated for an Ariel Award. Her career quickly took off in Hollywood with appearances in films such as Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) and Dogma (1999). Hayek's portrayal of Frida, the painter, in Frida (2002) in which she also co-produced, resulted in Hayek the first Mexican actress to win the Academy Award [6]. In addition, it earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination, Screen Actors Guild Award nomination as well as British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek continued to make films and acted in action-oriented film Once Upon a Time in Mexico in the years following.
